hiv aids & drug addiction: how do we encourage patients in taking hiv test?

hiv epidemic in iran is in the focused stage and still less than 70 thousand hiv positive people are recognized. given that there are more than 2000 private and governmental addiction treatment centers in iran covering more than half a million patients, there is a great potential for these centers to recognize hiv positive cases of iran, in case of précised planning. current article tried to evaluate this matter from different points of view. the very first hiv positive case of iran was a child diagnosed with hemophilia in 1987. since then, which was almost more than 25 years ago, we faced various cases. create right policies helped manage prevention of hiv epidemiology caused by contaminated blood products, as hiv positive cases rate caused by contaminated blood products have been reduced to zero for several years now. currently, based on the available data, the prevalence of hiv in the general population of iran is still at a very low stage. however, the prevalence among high risk groups is not as low. based on various studies, hiv prevalence among injection drug users is averagely 15% (haghdoost, et, al; 2010). on this basis and in accordance with known definitions, the epidemic level of hiv in iran is at the focused stage.
